Amelia Painter is a photographer, author and organic gardener now living in the Phoenix area. All her projects are made possible by her publishing company, Amelia Painter Press and her web design firm TotalWebDesigner.com.
Amelia’s writing projects have produced five books (one with two cover editions) and multiple newspaper and magazine articles over the years she has spent in the hospitality industry. She has also contributed to a large number of websites with subject specific web copy as requested by her clients.
Painter has consulted widely with management teams across North America on the topics of marketing, sales and the strategic impact of the Internet and is a popular speaker at hospitality trade shows and conferences. As a staff writer for the consumer magazine “Bed & Breakfast America” her writing expanded to include travel, hospitality, and cooking. Her books remaining in print or as e-books can be purchased on Amazon.com as well as many other online book stores.
Amelia’s mom was raised on a farm in Alabama, so her passion for gardening came early in life as well. She recalls the amazing vegetable garden her Aunt Margie grew and fed her large family from — the task of collecting vegetables, cleaning and preparing them for the stove took only minutes. And, if an additional veggie was needed to complete a meal, there was always a kid around to run out the back door and harvest it. However, it was health issues that pointed Amelia toward organic gardening. While living in Iowa, her education as an organic herb and vegetable gardener began.
Today her entire organic herb and veggie garden exists in containers of all shapes and sizes on her front patio. She planted her first organic vegetable and herb garden in Iowa over 18 years ago and began seriously researching “best organic growing techniques.” Painter has had a deep passion for photography since a teen so it is not surprising that her plants are often her photographic subjects!
